Everybody Is Reposting This, So I Don't Want To Feel Left Out
The BBC are on fine form this morning, reporting on American opposition to Obama’s healthcare plan. There was a lot of footage of protests, including even a shot of that poster
as well as many others. Apparently there has been a huge twitter-based backlash overnight, led by El Gordo himself, over the use of the NHS as an example of why the US should not
go for socialised healthcare. The BBC devoted quite a long time to the issue, managed to get in a clip of Daniel Hannan talking on US television and even bussed in an american anthropologist to explain why almost everybody in the USA is wrong on this one. There was no voice on the sofa agreeing with the americans, the other interviewee was an “expert in social networking sites.” Does such a thing exist? He’s probably got a degree in it. The main thrust of the story seemed to be to reassure us that the NHS is A Good Thing, in case we’d heard of the furore and started to have ‘alterntive thoughts.’
I got news for ‘ya Auntie, this Briton is already having ‘alternative thoughts’ and I’m not the only one. Everybody I know has an NHS horror story.
